Lottery Pools Terms Explained
Lines – The lines are the different number combinations that are bought for a lottery pool. As an example, a 100-line lottery pool has 100 unique number combinations (also known as blocks or tickets), giving lottery pool players 100 chances of winning the jackpot. These lines are bought by the lottery pool for the upcoming draw.
Total Shares – Each lottery pool is divided into equal parts, made available for purchase. These parts, also known as Shares, determine the portion of the lottery pool’s prizes that you stand to win. For example, if a lottery pool has 50 total shares, each share will give you 2% of the lottery pool’s prizes (100% divided into 50 equal pieces). The more shares you buy, the larger your portion of the prize will be.
What Are the Different Types of Lottery Pools Available?
Random Selection
Numbers are chosen at random for a fixed number of lines.
Systematic
Covers all probable unique combinations out of a given set of 7-14 numbers. These numbers are chosen at random.
Additional Numbers Match Guaranteed
The lines contain every possible combination of the lottery’s additional number(s). This guarantees that the lottery pool will match the additional number(s) at least once. All other numbers are selected randomly.
Guaranteed Number Match
Each line in the lottery pool contains one changing number. This dynamic number spans the entire guess range of the lottery. Because of this, the lottery pool will match at least one of the numbers drawn – guaranteed! All other numbers are chosen at random.
Most Frequently Asked Questions About Lottery Pools
How are the numbers of a lottery pool chosen? Can I pick my own numbers?
Lottery pool numbers are randomly preselected when the lottery pool is created by theLotter NY. When you join a lottery pool, you are not able to choose or change the lottery pool’s numbers. You can view the participating numbers in advance when deciding which lottery pool to join.
How are lottery pool wins divided?
When a lottery pool wins, the winnings are divided equally between the number of total shares. Your percentage of the prize depends on the number of shares you bought in that lottery pool.
What happens if not all lottery pool shares are purchased?
Your portion of the lottery pool, your winning odds and your percentage of the prizes are independent of the number of shares sold in the lottery pool, and will remain unchanged. The lottery pool will purchase all participating lines, regardless of how many shares are actually sold, at no extra cost to you.
